Work performed

In house

Finished open plan kitchen with a timber island, cream shaker cabinets and an exposed brick chimney

We take kitchens from a cramped, closed-off room to the one everybody ends up standing in.

What a kitchen remodel covers

A kitchen is rarely just cabinets. Once the old units come out you are into plumbing, electrics, flooring and very often the walls themselves, which is exactly why we keep the whole job in house instead of handing pieces of it to different subcontractors.

On a 1908 gambrel house we opened the balloon-framed walls around a small kitchen and carried the load on a steel I-beam, turning three separate rooms into one large kitchen. On jobs of that size we build the new layout in AI design software first, working from your ideas, so you can see the room before we start knocking anything down.

Smaller kitchens get the same attention. Whether it is a new run of cabinets and countertops or a full gut, you get one price, one crew and one person to call.

1

Design it before we build it

On larger remodels we lay the new kitchen out in AI design software from your ideas, so you can see the room before demolition starts.

2

Walls included

Opening up a cramped kitchen usually means structural work. We frame and carry the load ourselves rather than bringing in another contractor.

3

One crew, start to finish

Cabinets, countertops, tile, electrical and plumbing coordination all handled by the same people, on one schedule.

From first call to finished job

Four steps, no runaround. The person who quotes your job is the person who builds it.

STEP 01

Call or Email

Tell us what you are dealing with. You speak to Eddie directly, not a call centre or a salesman.

STEP 02

We Come Look

We walk the job in person, measure it, and find out what is actually behind the walls before quoting.

STEP 03

Written Estimate

You get a clear price for the work in writing, with no obligation and nothing buried in the fine print.

STEP 04

We Build It

Our own crew starts the work and stays on it. The people who quoted the job are the people who do it.

Why people call us back

A licensed local contractor who quotes the job honestly, does the work with his own crew, and picks up the phone afterwards.

Licensing, who does the work, and how to get a price. Browse the answers below.

Yes. Merrill Construction holds Maryland Home Improvement Commission licence MHIC #164814 and carries insurance for both commercial and residential work. The licence number is on our truck, our estimates and the bottom of this page, so you can verify it before you hire us.

No. All work is performed in house with local talent. On the custom tile bathroom in our portfolio, every part of that remodel was self-performed, from tearing it down to bare studs and floor joists through to the finished tile. Keeping the trades under one roof is how the schedule and the standard stay under our control.

Kitchens, bathrooms, decks, roofing, siding, windows and doors, interior remodeling, framing and commercial work. That covers everything from a roof repair or a deck rebuild through to a full structural remodel where walls come out and steel goes in.

Yes, both. We work on homes and on commercial buildings, including storefront and athletic facility work. Whichever it is, the same crew and the same standard apply.

Yes, structural work is part of what we do. On a 1908 gambrel house we opened the balloon-framed walls around a cramped kitchen and carried the load on a steel I-beam, turning three rooms into one. If you want a wall gone, we will tell you honestly what it is holding up and what it takes to remove it.

Call 443-547-4559 or email eddie@merrill-construction.com and tell us what you need. We come out, look at the actual conditions, and give you a written estimate for the work. There is no charge for the estimate and no obligation to go ahead.
